After two very long years, we are optimistic that we will be offering tours again soon!
In 2022, we are delighted to offer three exciting new trips:
Splendors of Western Oregon (May 14-24);
The Canadian Maritime Provinces (July 7/8-18); and
Historic Highlights of Southern England (September 20/21-October 2)
Traveling during this pandemic requires additional preparation to foster a healthy and safe on-tour experience for our travelers. We want your tour to be something to look forward to-not worry about. That’s why we will do all we can to give you peace of mind, from the moment you enroll until the day you return home. We are taking precautions to help protect the health and well-being of participants, while still providing an enriching and enjoyable experience. Please note that we are requiring that all participants and tour staff be fully vaccinated before participating on one of our tours. Please see the "Covid-19 Protocols" webpage to see additional precautions we will be taking on tour.
OUR 2022-2023 TOUR SCHEDULE: **there are a few spaces available on all 3 of our tours
Oregon, May 14-24, 2022. On this tour, we will travel to Oregon where we will discover historic sites and scenic vistas of this western paradise. We will see stunning volcanic peaks like Mount Hood and the remains of volcanic Mount Saint Helens. We will follow Lewis and Clark along the Columbia Gorge to Cape Disappointment and Fort Clatsop on the Pacific Ocean. We will explore the magnificent, rugged Oregon coast and walk an ancient lava flow at Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Other excursions will include a ride on a dune buggy at Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area; a visit to the Oregon Coast Aquarium; and a drive along the scenic rim of Crater Lake National Park. The Canadian Maritime Provinces, July7/8-18, 2022. On this 11-day tour, we will explore the storied history and natural scenic beauty of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island. Stops will include: The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax; the Citadel National Historic Site; Cape Breton Highlands National Park; The Cabot Trail; the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site; Prince Edward Island, the setting of Anne of Green Gables; the Bay of Fundy; and the spectacular Fortress of Louisberg. Historic Highlights of Southern England, September 20/21-October 2, 2022.
This tour, originally scheduled for 2020, will include visits to six UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We will visit Greenwich, the home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian and tour the site of the Battle of Hastings where William the Conqueror defeated King Harold in 1066. We will spend two nights at the Canterbury Cathedral Lodge, our base to explore this ancient town and church. At the White Cliffs of Dover, we will tour Dover Castle and the secret WWII tunnels where the Dunkirk evacuation was planned. We will visit the port of Plymouth which is commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrims' voyage. We will tour Stonehenge and Bath known for its Georgian architecture and ancient Roman Baths. In Cornwall, we will see its rugged coast, learn about the tin & copper mining industry, and visit Tintagel, forever linked to the King Arthur legend. We will visit picturesque villages in the Cotswolds and tour Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill. (click here for detailed itinerary)
Mississippi, March 2023. This itinerary will explore historic and cultural sites including the plantation homes along the Natchez Trace, Vicksburg National Military Park, the birthplace of Elvis, and several stops on the US Civil Rights Trail including the home of Medgar Evers. We would also stop in Brandon MS to toast our dear friend Ed Bearss at his gravesite. We may also include two nights in New Orleans.
