In May 2007, in the company of pre-eminent Civil War battlefield guide Ed Bearss, our group followed in the footsteps of the 20th Maine from Gettysburg to Appomattox Courthouse.  With Ed we walked some of the most hallowed ground of the Civil War, visited several private, historic homes not open to the general public; and enjoyed some wonderful meals.

Highlights Included:

*a festive welcome dinner in a private dining room at historic Gadsbys Tavern in Old Town Alexandria

* a specially arranged tour of Braehead, the private home where General Robert E. Lee had breakfast hours before the opening salvos of the Battle of Fredericksburg.

* a private after-hours tour of the award-winning National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, followed by a sumptuous dinner.

a catered lunch and private tour of an historic home situated on the battlefield of Sutherland Station.
